Footie Chick keeps striking those goals!
Footie Chick has signed on a third female football star, Kirsty McBride.
Hi Footie Chick! It's Kirsty here.
I started playing football when I was 9 years old. This was for a Boys u'10's team called Hawthorn Boys Club... I was the only girl in the team and won player of the year. I played for them for two years then just before my 12th Birthday I was told by the league that I was not allowed to play in the same league as the boys as it was an official FIFA rule back then.... I was devastated.
From Hawthorn Boys club I went on to play for Leith Athletic Girls which was only a 7 - a side team so I was not impressed with the standard and set up of girls football at this point. Leith Athletic was then Taken over by Hibernian Football club so from 15 I played for Hibs Girls U'17.....and went on to play for the Ladies at the age of 18....
Throughout my time at hibs we won the League/League cup/West of Scotland cup and the Scottish cup..... Once I progressed onto the Ladies Team we won the League and Scottish cup in the same year.
In this year I received a Player of the Year award for Hibs.We also participated in the UEFA womens Champions League and finished 2nd in our group but unfortunately did not qualify.
I have played for Scotland at U17 level U19 level and have now progressed onto the Full National Squad..... I got selected for the Full Squad in June 2002 at the age of 18. My first cap was In Portugal in a Qualifier for Euro 2005. From then on I have been in the Starting team and have took part in the Qualifying stages of Euro 2005 (which we failed to reach unfortunately) together with several Friendlies home and away and look forward to Participating in the World Cup Qualifiers later this year pending the squad selection from our New Manager.
